Anyone 16 years plus who isn't happy with their teeth can contact us to look into Invisalign treatment. You do need to have healthy gums and teeth before proceeding with treatment. Invisalign can be an option for those under 16, but because Invisalign is dependent on compliance, we recommend for those under 16 go to an orthodontist.
What results should I expect from Invisalign?
Invisalign is an almost invisible alternative to orthodontic treatments like braces that can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile. It consists of a series of slightly changing aligners custom-made for each patient that gently moves crooked or misaligned teeth with minimal discomfort compared to regular braces. Results are generally dependant on compliance, however, some teeth can be a bit more stubborn to move so further refinement may be necessary.
How long will it take to straighten my teeth with Invisalign?
Depending on the complexity of your case, with some Invisalign treatment options, you may be finished in as little as six months and seeing results in a matter of weeks, however, it generally takes longer. On average, treatment time is 12 to 18 months. What steps are involved to get started with Invisalign treatment?
We start with a free, no-obligation consultation to take some photos and assess the mouth to make sure patients are suitable candidates for Invisalign. If the patient is suitable, we will assess what kind of case they would be – light, moderate or comprehensive – and quote treatment accordingly. If the patient would like to go ahead, we take some impressions to send off the Invisalign to have their custom aligners fabricated. When the custom aligners arrive, the patient comes in and we attach buttons (small mounds of composite for the aligners to anchor to) to the required teeth. Most patients change to their next aligner every two weeks and come to see us every 8 weeks to ensure their progress is on track.
