Veneers
Gold Coast cosmetic porcelain and composite dental veneers
Ever wish you could hide your teeth? With porcelain and composite dental veneers, many common aesthetic issues including chips, gaps, stains, and even misalignment can be beautifully corrected.
Veneers typically last for many years and look and feel like natural teeth.
Are veneers right for me?
Porcelain and composite veneers are a popular option for correcting a variety of cosmetic flaws like chipped, broken, or cracked teeth. Veneers can be used to conceal the appearance of slightly misaligned and irregularly shaped teeth, which can also make them useful for correcting minor dental bite issues.
Depending on your teeth condition, veneers can often assist with:
- Covering teeth chips or cracks
- Concealing gaps between teeth
- Correcting the shape of misshapen or uneven teeth
- Making slightly misaligned teeth look straighter
- Whitening teeth appearance
Porcelain Veneers Vs. Composite Veneers
A porcelain veneer is made of a strong ceramic material custom-designed to precisely fit when adhered to the outer surface of the tooth. Composite veneers are engineered resin that is also affixed to your tooth's outer surface. Both are made to match or whiten your teeth and improve overall appearance with results that look completely natural. In the hands of our experienced cosmetic dentistry team, both materials can beautifully transform your smile.
The translucent properties of porcelain veneers make them reputed to shine more akin to a natural tooth and be more resistant to stains. Porcelain veneers excel in durability and should last 10-15 years.
The advantages of composite veneers are cost and reversibility. Porcelain veneers require some minimal reshaping of your natural teeth to fit the veneer, however when it comes to composites, very little prep work is required on your natural teeth meaning that they can be removed any time and your teeth won't seem altered. Composite veneers are however more prone to staining, less 'real' looking, and have a shorter lifespan, typically lasting 5-8 years.
Which option would best suit your unique needs doesn't just come down to cost and durability, but should also include the unique shape of your teeth, any existing conditions you're hoping to improve the appearance of, and your smile goals. To assist you with this, call to book in for a no-obligation consult so our expert team can help you discover the best veneer option to suit you.
What does the veneer procedure entail?
Durable and natural-looking, dental veneers can transform your smile without requiring a lot of preparation – veneers can be placed in just two or three visits to our clinic.
Before proceeding, you'll have a consult and dental exam to ensure dental veneers are the best choice for you. If you'd opted for porcelain veneers we'll then remove a small bit of tooth enamel so the veneers will fit your teeth properly, take x-rays and impressions, and help you choose the right shade for your finished veneers. The impressions are sent to our local Gold Coast dental lab partners to custom build your permanent restoration from quality materials, which generally takes around two weeks.
When your dental veneers are crafted, we'll book you back in to bond the veneers securely to your teeth, carefully checking for comfort and correct bite. Then it's time to go flash your new smile! With regular dental visits and proper care, your veneers can keep your smile beautiful for many years to come.
